From Tasha (Bates) Hakeem (1/14/07):
well 9 years goes by quickly! i always look back on my time at the hill with fond memories... it was a great year on so many levels and i'm glad to have kept in touch with some of the peeps that were there then. a little update - just got married in june (2006) - our wedding/life site is still up (http://www.anewhakeemfusion.com). have been traveling around the world doing injustice photography but am currently living in ontario again for our first bit of marriage. it's nice to be back home for a while but we're looking forward to getting back on the field in the (hopefully) near future! my husband is from california, we met in hawaii when i was out there a couple years ago for a few months doing some of my work. he had founded and was leading schools focused on japan at the ywam base in kona. my work site is http://www.capturedbytasha.com - still working on this... long-term have a calling with girls rescued from the sex trade. well, would love to hear from you! tash.
From Rachel (Arkell) Duxbury:
Wow! I can't believe it's been 6 years! Sometimes it feels like just yesterday I was telling Pam, firmly but nicely, to stop singing in the shower at the top of her lungs at 6 am! I miss that now! (A little) Anyway, about me...I've actually done quite a bit with myself in the past 6 years. When I left the Hill, I spent the next year with Venture Teams Internationl and travelled all over Canada and the US and then to Nigeria, Africa for 3 1/2 months. I've gotta to say that that was the best worst year of my life. It was a really good growing experience though. From there I kind of slid back a bit and needed to figure some things out about myself. Then, I went to Florida to work at an imported show horse sales barn for awhile; which I loved. When I got back, I broke up with the boyfriend I had been dating for the past 2 years and went looking for a new church home. When I found the church I felt led to, I met my husband to be 3 weeks before he left for 3 years of B ible college in Sydney, Australia. We kept in touch through email and over the phone and fell in love with each others heart. When he came home for Christmas in 2004 he asked my dad for my hand, asked me for my hand the next day and we were engaged for a month, married on January 17th and in Australia a week later!! That's where we've been ever since. Lucas is a 3rd year student at Hillsong International Leadership College, majoring in worship and creative arts and we're now interning with a pastor in a local church. We'll be home for a month over Christmas this year (2005) and will return to Australia in January to continue our ministry for at least another 2 years. And...that's it! For now. I would absolutely love to hear from any of you! I think of my time at the Hill quite often and remember you all fondly. Hope to hear from you soon! Also, I just wanted our class to know that "Classmate.com" has His Hill listed and we can all keep in touch that way.
From Amanda Joy Cone:
Hey guys! Sorry it's been way too long, and that I have missed
several weddings; but my life has been absolutely crazy since
I've been home from the Hill. So many stories and expreiences
to share, but not enough room to write it all down. If you'd like
to know what Amanda's really been up to, just email me and I'll
email back. At the present time, I am FINALLY in my last
semester at a local college here in Houston to finish up my
associates degree in Office Administration. After 3 1/2
years I am almost a college grad! I have a job right now as an
administrative/secretary assistant for an engineering firm here
in Houston. The company is small, but a good strong company.
Once I'm done at Tomball Jr. College, I hope to get into University
of Houston and get a bachelor's in general business
management. I'm still single, and living the single lifestyle right
now and love it. The rest of my family all got married, and
waiting for me to do the same; but they are learning patience
with me as I am not ready for anything serious. I guess you can
say that I'm living the "bachelorette lifestyle" and loving it! Well,
I'd love to hear from anyone who cares to write, and share
stories or whatever. Hope everyone is doing well, and
trying to take care of themselves! God Bless,
Amanda
