From Melanie (McReynolds) Kratky(1/2/08)
Just noticed the email address here is wrong. My current email is melkratky@yahoo.com.I'm living in Houston, married with two sweet girls. Avery is 2 and Tatum is 7 months. If anyone is ever in H-town let me know I'd love to catch up. So we should have a 10 year reunion sometime this year... anyone interested in planning one? I'll help out!
From Becca (Bowden) Huber (12/3/07)
Just wanted to send a note to say I was recently married, October 20th, 2007 on Mount Washington, BC. My husbands name is Randal Huber, and we now are living in Maple Bay, BC. We spent our honeymoon in Mexico, and St. Pete's Florida, and now are back home. It's snowing here (brrr), and I just made Baked Oatmeal from the latest
newsletter:) MMMM. Can't wait to taste it.
From Tasha (Bates) Hakeem (1/14/07):
well 9 years goes by quickly! i always look back on my time at the hill with fond memories... it was a great year on so many levels and i'm glad to have kept in touch with some of the peeps that were there then. a little update - just got married in june (2006) - our wedding/life site is still up (http://www.anewhakeemfusion.com). have been traveling around the world doing injustice photography but am currently living in ontario again for our first bit of marriage. it's nice to be back home for a while but we're looking forward to getting back on the field in the (hopefully) near future! my husband is from california, we met in hawaii when i was out there a couple years ago for a few months doing some of my work. he had founded and was leading schools focused on japan at the ywam base in kona. my work site is http://www.capturedbytasha.com - still working on this... long-term have a calling with girls rescued from the sex trade. well, would love to hear from you! tash.
From Kristen (Shepherd) Oudman:
Hey there! Steve, it was amazing to hear all that is going on in your life!
I love to hear how God is working in people's lives and transforming them. Wish we could have got a chance to talk more when you were in Bellingham! God has equally been blessing my life. This summer my husband and I will have been married 5 years. We have a 11/2 year old son and we are having another baby in September. When I became a mom I quit working out of home and feel blessed that I have the opportunity to stay home. Tom and I are lucky ot have an amazing church and I'm involved in the Recovery Ministries and leading different groups. His Hill was a turning point for me and my relationship with Christ. It was a struggle leaving and many mistakes were made, but God's grace was unconditional and today I feel blessed and ready to serve Him wherever He leads! Hope your all doing well!! Kristen
From Steve Mathis:
what up hillers. i'm still alive and still not arrested or
anything bad. i am working closely with a church here in san antonio,
its a 20somethings church called eastgate and its apart of community
bible. i teach and lead a handful of groups for them and just recently
gave up their missions program which i ran for them for two years.
every day i serve there it shows me another way people need and are
crying out for Jesus Christ, they just don't always know it.
well as for my future, i am out the door and on my way to the overseas
mission field. i've been on the mission field since i left the hill :)
but now its full time and in another culture. i'm headed to albania on
may 22,2006 and will be there one year and then bouncing, Lord willing,
to istanbul, turkey for about five years. if you get a chance, keep me
and my friends in your prayers, it is much appreciated. rarely
does a week go by where i do not reflect on my time at his hill
or point my friends to a torchbearer school to check out.
i miss our days together and long for heaven where we can
share those memories and better memories over tea & crumpets;)
take care, and if i hear from any of you it will be a great blessing.
