News

From Mike Early (7/26/08)
Well, well, well!  What a great opportunity.  I was Facebooking the other day and thought about a friend from college that had worked at summer camp at The Hill.  I decided to look around to see what was up, and it is great to read all that God has done in lives over these past years.  It seems that God has taken us in all different directions, yet is still drawing all of us closer to Himself.  It is interesting to see God work, and most times it is easier in retrospect.  I still read through the journal that John Steinmetz (sp?) got me started with, and it makes my heart smile to think of how God used that time and all of the people (Students and staff) to make a HUGE change in my life, so much so that when i arrived back home after that year, people in my church could not believe the change.  My only answer to those who asked was that i was (and still am) learning how to let Christ live His life in me and through me.  WOW, how other lives have been changed through

that simple statement.  What wonderful Grace He has given to us.  Keep up the good fight, for our race is nearing its end.  With deep admiration for you all,  Mike E.

From Garth and Jodi (Dierking) Showalter (10/27/07)
Hello all! I wanted to let you know that we have a new e-mail address, garths@centurytel.net. Garth and I got married in 1991 and are still going strong!!! We have one son, Evan, who is 12 and we adopted a little girl, Karlyn, who is now 6. It is amazing how fast time flies. I have been severely ill this year spending 8 times in the ICU just this year with brain problems, they just aren\'t sure what. (No comments on that please!) It has been very hard on the family, but we have a wonderful church and my relationship with God couldn\'t be stronger. His eye is on me and that sparrow!! We are living in Southwest Missouri and Garth is designing sound systems and speaker systems. Music is still a huge part of our lives. If anyone travels near, let us know. Our love to you and yours. The ShowaltersGarth, Jodi, Evan and Karlyn

From Scott Fuhrmann (9/12/07):

From Dawn Mugele (9/17/07)
Hi all, I thought I had better update the last note I sent out. I have three kids now Katie (15), Gavin (11), and Anika (7). Katie is severly disabled but she is still around and doing good most days. Erik and I still live in Colorado Springs and would love to have any of you visit. It was a great year at The Hill. Now I would love to have a year to just study Gods word and listen to great teachers. I hope the new students realize what a gift they have in their time at The Hill!

From Shana Penner (9/17/07)
Thank you Bev for the email or I would not have known to come and hear from all these people who once lived in my life many many years ago ! 18 years just does not seem possible !! I can\'t possibly be that close to 40 can I ?Whoa ! What does that make Dave R !!! I was just telling my kids ( 3 boys Carson 10 , Cam 8 , Logan 5 ) about a friend in Bible School who turned 30 and how we dressed up in black for the day to celebrate that old age. CAN YOU EVEN IMAGINE !!! It was so good to hear about all of you and how God is at work in your lives. I have often thought of many of you and that great year. I tell my kids \"when\" not if they go .I married my Hunk of Burning Love in 1993 (Jay). He is with the RCMP . We live in Strathmore ,Alberta and are loving the other men in our lives. They keep me hopping and have definately given me some grey ! God is Good and continues to draw us to himself . As John Piper says in \"Don\'t waste your life\" (great read) more of Him,le

ss of me ! If you any of you are ever in the neighbourhood please look us up.Love Shana

From Dave and Kelly Rader (8/24/07)
We went up to Canada and got hitched pretty soon after summer camp. So, we've been married for over 16 years already! We have 3 kids ages 15, 13 and 11. Dave is still a geek who nows plays drums in a country rock band and is an elder in the Alliance Church and Kelly is still tall and mostly serious. Dave has been doing social work with First Nations for the last seven years along with public speaking. Kelly started an organization called Mentoring of Mothers with several groups around British Columbia. We live in the small town of Yarrow with a river on one side and a mountain on the other so there's lots of fun stuff to do. The thing Dave misses most about the Hill is riding the motorcycle through the chapel. The thing Kelly misses most is those romantic canoe rides on the Guadalupe River. We both look forward to hearing from any former Hillmates from back in the day.

From Rod Duerksen (8/17/07)
Hey Everyone, sure am glad I found this, and thanks to whoever put it up. I often get to wonderin what everyone is up to. As for my self, I got married in 2001. My wife Robin and I have 2 wonderful daughters (2 and 4 years old)and we live near Prince George B.C. We\'re lovin the redneck life, livin in the bush outside of town.
It is truly amazing to live each day in the Lord, waitin to see what blessing He has for us!Rod (Rowdy) Duerksen

From Kevin DeLoach(7/20/07)
Hi guys!! It has been almost 20 years since my time at His Hill and I can tell you that it was one of the best experiences of my life. I have many amazing memories of my time spent on that hill but none more special than the friendships I made that year. I have not stayed in contact with any of you but somehow I still think of you as the best friends I ever had. Sometimes I think about where my lifes journey has taken me and I wonder where your lifes journey has taken you. I am living in Atlanta,Ga. and I own a personal training and weight loss company called \"fit\". I know, little bitty me. I guess those pull-ups Rod Thiessan made me do finally paid off.

From Scott Fuhrmann (1/11/07):
Looking back, did any of us think we would be where we are today?
It is great to find out what is going on in the lives of our classmates
so many years later. I moved to Orange County CA to take a 5th grade teaching job after 2 years of teaching highschool in Canada. 2006 turned out to be a year of tremendous change; I began my own business: Kingdom Konsulting (a consulting business), began to work for a friend of mine who is a mortage broker, married my soulmate Christin, and bought a house in Yorba Linda CA. I am so dependend on the Lord right now in multiple areas of my life... how do people survive without the Spirit and the Word influencing their values and emotions? I feel like I am on the front line of the battle in this area of the world. It would be great to conect with you. Please e-mail me any time.
